Something Random / Jotain ihan randomii vaan

This week has been ok. At work I've been doing things with computer at the office the whole week. Nothing too exciting. I got the things I started last week done on Tuesday so Henry gave me this 18 km long road drawing to be cleaned. This guy who was retired some time ago had started to clean it and I'm doing the rest now. The result will be sent to the people who ordered the plan.  It's basically deleting things that are either temporary (like the things they build to protect ditches) or the things that are old and have been taken away when making new constructions. Also I've been checking if the places and measurements of catch basins and culverts from this 2 cm thick pile of paper (size A3) where the right measurements are written. It's really interesting to see that the road plans in Canada look exactly like they do in Finland, the only difference is the markings they have in the drawing. Here it can say stuff like "GAS" or "MH" as in ManHole. Also the markings that mean e.g. fence might be different, I can't remember :) Yesterday it was close to a small disaster when Ken saw what I was doing and he said it was the wrong file I had open. He said it wasn't the newest version of the plan and that would have meant I'd been working two days for nothing. Luckily we found out there was actually two files with almost the same name, one of them had 7 in front of the file name and the other didn't have that. So we came to the conclusion it was fine and I could continue today.

On Wednesday I thought I broke my work chair, but luckily didn't :D  There is three different knobs or something to adjust the chair up and down and the angle. I was going to lift the chair all the way up, but instead I grabbed the one that adjust the angle of the seat. There was this loud cracking sound and I almost fell down because suddenly the angle of the seat just flipped and I was a bit stunned. Of course this Patrick comes and makes fun of me and says that they'll send me back tomorrow. I seriously thought I broke the chair, the sound was so scaringly loud but it was ok, Russ came and fixed it :D There's really nice people working at the office. I really like them, the ones I've got to know. 

Yesterday when I realized I had only 3 whole weeks left, I thought I didn't want to go back home. I really like to be here. This family, my relatives, is wonderful! They all are so kind and helpfull and caring. I really really like all of them a lot! They have a funny dog called Phoebe. She's a golden retriever and she's the kindest dog I've ever seen. She has these funny expressions and sometimes she growls funnily as if to say give me something good! She doesn't do it badly or to mean harm just to say someting. 

Today after work I went to the mall that's in the neighbour to the office. I found new jean shorts, something I really needed, since it can get quite warm here some days already. Kathy came to pick me up and then we went to the gym to work out which was really good.

Tää viikko on ollut ihan suht hyvä. Töissä oon ollut koko viikon toimistolla siivoilemassa katusuunnitelmia. Ei mitään kovin jännittävää. Sain viime viikolla alottamani jutut tehtyä ja keskiviikkona Henry anto sellasen 18 kilsaa pitkän katusuunnitelman siivottavaks. Yks mies, joka jäi eläkkeelle joskus kuukausi pari sitten oli jo alottanut sitä hommaa ja jättänyt siihen nootin mitä vielä pitää siivota. Se siivottu tulos siis lähetetään asiakkaalle, joka on tilannut sen suunnitelman. Siitä otetaan pois sellaset asiat, jotka on purettu kun on rakennettu uutta ja tietenkin kaikki väliaikaset rakennelmat, joita tehdään esim. ojien suojelemiseks yms. Ne siis pitää käytännössä vaan deletoida siitä piirustuksesta. Lisäks oon tarkistanut kaivojen ja putkien paikkoja ja korkeuksia siinä piirroksessa. Mulla on sellanen joku 2 senttiä paksu (n.A3 kokonen) paperinivaska, jossa on ne oikeet korkeudet ja paikat on. Eilen meinas tulla pienimuotoinen katastrofi, kun Ken näki mitä olin tekemässä ja se sanoi, että ei toi oo se viimenen niistä kyseisen tien suunnitelmista. Siellä kuitenkin oli kaks melkein saman nimistä tiedostoa (toisen tiedostonimen edessä oli 7 ja toisen ei) ja lopulta se olikin sitten se oikee. Jos se ei olis ollu oikee, oisin tehnyt kaks päivää turhaa työtä :D On siistiiä, että noi katusuunnitelmat näyttää samalta täällä Kanadassakin, kuin Suomessa. Jotkut karttamerkit on ehkä vähän erilaisia, en oikeen muista :) Lisäks tietty asiat on englanniks, esim. siellä on sellasia kuin MH eli ManHole (en tiedä mikä se on...).

Keskiviikkona luulin hajottaneeni työtuolini, muttei se sit onneks mennykkään ihan niin. Siinä tuolissa on 3 eri säädintä, korkeudelle ja eri kulmille. Olin nostamassa sitä ihan ylös, mutta vahingossa otinkin sitä istuinosan kulmaa säätävän vivun käteeni. Kun sitten vedin siitä, niin kuulu kauhee riks raks ja meinasin tippua lattialle. Koko istuin kallistu eteenpäin ihan sairaasti. Luulin ihan oikeesti, että hajotin sen. Patrick tuli siihen vetään vitsiä musta tietenkin, "lähetetään sut huomenna takas kotiin, kun vaan istut täällä jalat pöydällä ja hajotat paikat" yms. Russ tuli korjaan sen tuolin sit, onneks se ei hajonnut siis vaan vedin vaan väärästä vivusta. Oli se aika koomista, ja ehkä vähän noloa. Siellä toimistolla on tosi kivoja tyyppejä, siis kaikki ne ainakin, joihin oon tutustunut.

Eilen  tajusin, että enää kolme kokonaista viikkoa jäljellä ja tuli ihan sellanen olo etten halua lähtee kotiin takas. Täällä on ollu ihan mielettömän ihanaa olla. Kaikki ihmiset on niin ihania oikeesti. Nää ihmiset, joitten luona asun, siis mun sukulaiset, on aivan loistavia! Koko perhe on aivan ihana. Kaikki on kauheen kilttejä ja ystävällisiä ja välittäviä, välittömiä ja lämpimiä. On niin ihanaa, kun saa tuntea olevansa kotona. Täällä on hassu koira nimeltä Phoebe. Phoebe on kultainen noutaja ja se joskus silleen urisee kuin sanoakseen jotain tyyliin "antakaa mulle herkkuja". Se ei tarkota mitään pahaa ja se on tosi kiltti ja ihana koira.

Tänään menin töitten jälkeen toimiston vieressä olevaan ostoskeskukseen. Löydin onnekseni uudet farkkushortsit, tai "bermudat", mikä oli oikein hyvä. Täällä on joinain päivinä jo 20 astetta lämmintä ja mulla on vaan pitkiä housuja mukana. Kathy tuli hakeen mut sieltä ja sit mentiin kuntosalille, mikä oli oikein mukavaa myös.
